Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she won the Emmy Award. She is also known for her role in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Born as the only daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney was raised with four brothers. Although she was a child with a aspiration to become a journalist, it wasn't until her high school years that she began modeling. After moving away from New York City and gaining experiences as a commercial model and commercials in New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. Her first film role was as a teen innocent as a child in All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Delaney is a well-known actor who has appeared featured in a variety of television dramas, and TV films. Her career as a professional has been more successful than her private life. The talented actress has had to deal with alcoholism in the past as well as two marriages that failed. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
